Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD)

https://dspd.utah.gov/ -

Is your child on the waiting list for DSPD? If not, you will want to get them on it ASAP. They have myriad resources that can help and once you are on the wait list, she/he will automatically have Medicaid under the community supports waiver program. You will have to make an account to access it. DSPD provides a substantial number of varied services intended to help people with disabilities participate more fully in their communities and lead more self-determined lives.

Some of the more common categories of services are listed here, with a brief explanation, and can often be tailored to your unique situation.

Some of the included services are behavior supports, respite services, day programs, cleaning services, environmental adaptations, host home services, professional parental support, support coordination, supported living and transportation services.

Keep your DSPD case worker up to date with any problems or changes with your child. If they are in the hospital, let them know. If there is a big change in the family, let them know. The wait list is long and the more he/she is on their mind and the more needs they have, the more likely they are to be moved up on the list.
*Be honest, don't try to sugar coat anything. For instance, if she can walk but it tires her out quickly write that. Give as much relevant information as possible.
